The Business Case for Meaningful Work &
Serious Fun

Work has a meaning problem.
Purpose is powerful—but only when people feel connected to it.
Ross creates a deep connection to purpose through warmth, humour, and raw emotion. With stories from his time as an Opera Extra (including a stint on stage as a giant rabbit), playful interaction, and thoughtful reflection, Ross shows leaders how to help their teams feel more motivated, fulfilled, and energised—by reconnecting them to the impact of what they do.
Knowledge isn’t enough.
Meaning isn’t a checklist you can tick.
You can’t think your way into joy. You have to feel it.
So the real question is not “What makes work meaningful?”
It’s:
How do we actually make that happen, day to day?
That’s the question that burned through me during my own burnout.
And it led me to something unexpected.
What if fun is the missing piece?
Not ping-pong tables or away days.
Not forced “fun” that masks a broken system.
But real fun—the kind that sparks curiosity, courage, creativity.
The kind that makes work feel like it matters again.
The kind that makes you feel alive.
That kind of fun isn’t a distraction from work.
It’s the skill that helps you do meaningful work.

Let’s take fun seriously.
CURIOUS?
Because when work is fun again, performance flows.
-
People show up with energy.
-
Teams collaborate, connect, and solve better.
-
Cultures come alive.
-
And the work actually gets done—with more meaning and less burnout.
This is what I help organisations and leaders unlock.
With keynotes, workshops, tools, and stories from the Fun Jobs Project, I invite people to play their way back to purpose—and build something better.

FUN IS A MINDSET
I call it Serious Fun—a playful, practical approach to building meaning into everyday work.
It’s the courage to follow sparks of curiosity.
To explore, experiment, and reconnect with what actually matters.
To bring more of yourself to what you do, and help others do the same.
This isn’t about quitting your job to go ski or sing.
It’s about the mindset shift that brings joy, energy and ownership back into your work.
And that shift is not only possible—it’s urgent.
